Serena Williams now has enough children to form a doubles team.
The tennis superstar announced she has given birth to her second daughter in a TikTok video published Tuesday. Her husband, entrepreneur Alexis Ohanian, also shared the news on X, divulging the newborn's name is Adira River.
In the clip, Ohanian sits at a table with a computer. Williams and their oldest daughter, Olympia, join him and sit on a bench before Williams, wearing a bright pink hoodie dress, points her finger to ask Ohanian to wait one second. She gets up and walks away gingerly before returning with the bundle of joy wrapped in a printed blanket.
"Welcome my beautiful angel," Williams captioned the post.
Ohanian praised Williams in his own post and shared the excitement the family is experiencing at welcoming a new member.
"I'm grateful to report our house is teaming with love: a happy & healthy newborn girl and happy & healthy mama. Feeling grateful," he said with photos of the happy family. "@serenawilliams you've now given me another incomparable gift — you're the GMOAT. Thanks to all the amazing medical staff who took care of my wife & our daughter I'll never forget the moment I introduced @olympiaohanian to her baby sister."
Williams and Ohanian revealed her pregnancy this spring at the Met Gala, where the 23-time Grand Slam champion wore a figure-fitting black dress and lots of pearls to show off her baby bump.
They found out they were having another girl with an elaborate gender reveal that included a drone show.
The couple welcomed Olympia in 2017 when Williams was still playing tennis. She had health problems after giving birth, which led to what she called a "life or death" situation. She used the moment to advocate for better care for pregnant women of color, who are at higher risk of death from preventable pregnancy complications.
Williams retired from tennis a year ago after the U.S. Open.
